(You see it. I know you do.)

The winner of the cowlgirls book is #221, Lucia. Please email me with your address and I will make sure you receive the book.

Don't you just hate that bloglines is closing! It really is such a bummer and is totally confusing me as to what to do with all the blogs I subscribe to. Is google reader our only option?

Hope the sun is shining where you are.

  9. I've never used bloglines but I use google reader. Somewhere I learned how to add a "next" button to my toolbar which pops the next new entry up in my current window. It's like reaching my hand into a grab bag and always getting something I want. I'm not good at transition but hope you are happy with whatever you end up using.

  11. After just having a mighty large bookmark folder I finally got the hang of Reader about a year ago - I have a customise google homepage with my reader window up and my flickr, it works really well for me. On the otherhand I completely hate change and if I were a bloglines user I would be in need of much gin to get me through the transition.

  12. And Leslie, I love your flower vase - soy sauce? I use a vase just like it and it's an old soy sauce bottle!!

  13. I use Google Reader also.
I sent you an email recently, but it keeps bouncing back to me. I need your expertise on a knitting needle, leslie. :)

  14. I use the old fashioned click until I hit something new system. It's a little more time-consuming, sure, but then when you DO find a new one, it's like a little present.

  15. Leslie, love your blog. Fortunately, the sun is shining here in NC. More rain tomorrow and Thursday though...we need it but UGH..puts a damper on my OBX training.

  17. Yes, it's shining....but thankfully it's so much cooler than yesterday, Southern California hit the highest temps yesterday in history - such a bummer when one is trying to knit a wool beanie, bloglines??? I'm so new to all this blogging; guess it's time to learn again - bring on google reader...

  18. I was unhappy about Bloglines, too, but switched to GR. It took some customizing to get it to act like I expected it to. But I love how it handles my podcast feeds - MUCH better than Bloglines could.

  19. Love the heart, very cute.

Have only used GR and am very happy to have everything just turn up ready to be browsed through. Don't know how bloglines works so don't know how different they are. Best of luck with getting used to it.
I do like the "subscribe" feature which sits in my toolbar and when I find a new blog I like I just hit subscribe button and it adds it to GR. Also you can import all of your existing subscriptions into GR in one go using Subscriptions > Manage subscriptions> Import/export which would save a lot of time on the change over. The bloglines portion of the process is outlined on their front page today. Good Luck

  21. I too used to used Bloglines and was just down to think about losing all the blogs I read (because that's totally what I thought would happen!) Thankfully I did give google reader a try and it works fine but not before trying fastladder which didn't update the blogs and was just waaay slow and they never answered my email so google reader it has been for me for about three weeks. Some things I don't like but it's better than losing the blogs I love to read, like yours! :)

  23. Sweet little heart tomato.
I hear you on the Bloglines angst - I had it too for about 10 minutes and made the switch to Google Reader about a week ago. It was super super easy and I'm quite digging it now. Join the fun!!

Bloglovin' just barely made it so you could import .ompl files, meaning that you don't have to re-subscribe to everything.
I switched to reader, but I despise the aesthetic of the site, so I use the "Next" button, which you can find by clicking Settings and then Goodies. I just click "Next" in my toolbar and it takes me right to the next post - without ever having to look at google reader's ugly site!

I loved Bloglines and couldn't live without it.... BUT I exported all feeds to Google Reader, and it is SO MUCH better - so no need to worry ;o)

  27. If you use Outlook, you can receive RSS feeds as emails. I've been trying it out this week and so far, I like it. The RSS feeds are in a separate folder from your inbox. A new post shows up like a new email and I like that I can save emails/posts that I really like or want to return to later.

  37. Get google reader and install the 'next' button - you can read all the new posts from your feeds in their own blogs, which makes commenting so much easier. You'll never have to interface with reader apart from setting it up!
