my june knit

I started the FreeStyle Shirt on May 25th, however, I am calling it my June knit. I like to save my black yarn for when the sun is high and the days are bright.
I'm using Onling No. 21 holding two strands together.  It is a cotton/linen blend and I am hoping will work beautifully for this pattern.

I also made a Chocolate Chip cookie that supersedes any I have made in the past.  I know that is a tall order, however, it's true.  I have tried to duplicate the delicious Levain cookies from New York.  This is the closest I have ever gotten.  I followed this recipe.  (I'm going to also jot it down below in case the link one day expires. )

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup (112g) unsalted butter, slightly softened

  • 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar

  • ¼ (50g) cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs, cold

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2½ (300g) cups all-purpose flour, sifted

  • 1½ tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt (or 1 tsp kosher salt)

  • 2 cups (250g) walnuts, roughly chopped
(if omitting walnuts, you can add roughly 50g extra AP flour)

  • 2 cups (325g) dark chocolate chips

Measure out 3 oz balls. Refrigerate balls for 30 minutes or longer. Bake at 375˚ for 11-13 minutes.

on my needles

How can it possibly be April 25th already!  Can time please slow down?!
We have been busy around here.  Mostly traveling.  Always knitting.  Much to share, however, I am going to start with the present and share what is currently on my needles. It is bringing me much joy.
Aureliano by Claudia Quintanilla.
This knit is delicate and delicious.  And requires me to be fully present.  It's a nice change from many of my mindless knits.

The weather has begun to change.  Windows are open and fresh air is flowing into the house.  I moved some things around and it is crazy how much small changes can change the energy in a room.  It feels like a fresh space.

Happy weekend!

daily pullover no. 2

Have I told you lately that all I want to do is knit? It's true. ALL I WANT TO DO IS KNIT!

And I am extremely grateful that I can.  Knitting truly is physical and mental therapy.  Unbelievably  grateful to have it in my life!

Why second Daily Pullover is almost finished.  Soon I will cast on another one in Kettle Black (again) because  Libby requested one in black.

Remember to keep track of your decreases with the little bulb shaped stitch markers.  They truly make life even more fun!

new WIPS

It's 4:30am and we are headed to the airport in about 30 minutes, but I just had to pop on and organize my WIPS.  If you know me, you know I am a monogamous knitter and having too many things on my needles makes me a bit uneasy.  HA!
Yesterday, I cast on for two projects.
I have two lovely shades of Linen Quill in my stash that I thought I would use for another Half + Half Triangles Wrap,  but decided a sweater would get more use.  I loved the Daily Pullover the minute I saw it in my email from Purl Soho.  Its just SO wearable!  I think it truly will become a Daily Sweater.

My second cast on was the Loop it Up Cardi which is part of Knit Collage's KAL.  DREAMY!  On 17 needles this thing will practically knit itself!  How's yours going, Denise?☺️

I have the Daily Pullover packed and hope to make some progress on our journey.

Happy weekend!

THEA

It's my latest WIP and the jury is still out.
I usually know if I'm going to like something, but this feels a little different.  The yarn feels heavy and the fabric feels thick.  I'm wondering if the drape will be what I thought it would.  I like the color although I keep wondering what I will wear it with.  I have one pair of pants that might work.
I'm going to forge ahead and see if I can get this finished and blocked and make it work.  If not, it will head to the frog pond.
I really want a few summer handknits in my wardrobe.  I'm just not sure I chose the right yarn for this pattern.  And now I am dreaming about making this or this.
So little time.

summer knits

Wednesday's WIP on Thursday. 😊
It's actually just becoming a WIP today!  I couldn't be more excited to cast on for something new.
I have a few things on the needles but needed something light and summery.  My friend, Kim, mentioned this pattern and I thought it was the perfect summer project.

I was so happy to pop over to my local yarn shop and not only pick up my yarn but my cute new bag, also.   I purchased it for myself for Mother's Day. 🤩 It's made of washable craft fabric that's light but sturdy enough to stand upright.  I adore it!  (Thanks for showing me yours, Christine!)   The bag and handles are sold separately and it was fun attaching the handles.  I attached my handles incorrectly but I quite like it this way. I can't wait to transport it around the house and on my small excursions!

Pattern:  Slope
Yarn:  Shibui Twig

I adore making baby items.  My go to sweater is the Barbie Lou,  however,  my friend Kim, mentioned this pattern and I figured I would give it a go.  I have a lot of stash yarn (thanks for my Knitcrates!) that I am trying to use and thought I would branch out and try a new pattern.

We headed out to Bozeman, Montana to see my son Charlie this week and I decided to pack this cute project.  I thought this yarn would be perfect for a baby girl.  A super wash merino with a bit of tinsel will be perfect for the mama.  It feels amazing and the colors are sweet.  Yet,  I'm not sure the yarn is the best choice for this pattern.  A solid would definitely show the details of the pattern a lot better.  Nevertheless, I'm sticking with it since it's all I packed!
