Some years it was a box mix. And some years it was this recipe. Really one of our all time favorites. There is just something about walking into the house with that fresh baked brownie smell. I think that's what I always wanted my kids to remember about the first day of school.
And packing them for lunches the next day is pretty great, too. I'm not sure who loves those paper bags more. Me or, well, me.

I love how your son reminded you that one year. I have fond memories of my mum baking for us. A big hit was her peanut butter blossoms with Hershey's kisses in the middle. I used to bring that to school for potlucks. I hope to do some baking this birthday weekend as I've spotted some good recipes on Pinterest.

ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful first day tradition! My daughter starts kindergarten next year, I've already started thinking about nice traditions to start for that special time. This one is something I would love doing!
