books... to receive

Monday, November 23, 2009

I'm sure by now, you have seen and heard about these two terrific books. They are both filled with fabulous projects and information for knitters of all levels. I would be showing you more photos of the contents of each book, however, my camera (MY CAMERA) just went kerplunk and I will be without (WITHOUT) for 4-5 weeks (WEEKS) while Ritz Camera ships it away to the nikon camera fairies where they will try to repair it. You have no idea how much this bums me out. The poor girl behind the counter didn't know what to do when I started to cry. (YES, CRY!) Oh! And to top it off, I left a pair of fingerless gloves (that were my husbands!) on the counter and when I went back to get them they were gone. (LONG GONE!)
Book #1: Nicky Epstein Knitting a Kiss in Every Stitch. Truly one of my favorite books of hers. I love the layout of this book. A chapter each for kids, girls, guys and special friends. An entire book filled with projects to give. (Who says you can't give to yourself?)
The "guys" chapter consists of five projects including these fisherman's gloves. (love)

How cute are these for the jet setter in your life? (free pattern)
The reversible baby hoodie is absolutely adorable. (totally)
Book #2: Color by Kristin. Not only is this book filled with unbelievable color projects, but there is also information on how to design your own beautiful (colorful) knits.
Kristin talks about how color inspires her and shares so much of the information she has acquired along her knitting journey.
Honestly, both books would make a great gift for one of your knitting friends... or yourself.
And guess what? If you want a copy of either of these books, leave me a comment by midnight Wednesday, November 25th. I will draw two names on Thanksgiving day. Please let me know if you have a preference.

  180. I'm so very sorry about your camera (and the gloves). But please KEEP TAKING PICTURES - use a P&S, a disposable, your phone - anything really! Because it's not the camera that makes the photo - it's your amazing vision and ability to capture an entire story in just one shot. You are so talented and your amazing images always inspire! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving - and take lots of pictures.

  181. I would absolutely love either book! They look wonderful. Have a great Thanksgiving!

  192. Gah! I don't know what I would do without my camera for a day, let alone 4-5 WEEKS, and my camera is nothing fancy! Yikes! I brought mine along on a camping trip once and realized after our arrival that I had left the memory card at home, in the computer... I was so disappointed. I really can't even imagine... and if you're anything like me, losing those fingerless gloves, on top of what already happened, would have really put you in a bad mood. I'm so sorry!

You are too kind to offer a giveaway like this. Knitting a Kiss in Every Stitch sounds like a fun, sweet find.

I hope the rest of your week goes much better! Happy Thanksgiving!

  193. Are you SERIOUS? No CAMERA? Can't you BORROW one? I don't know what I'd do and this really bothers me that you are without your camera. I get inspiration from your photos on a regular basis, parent vicariously and believe I can knit...and this certainly will not do.

  194. Huzzah, I love online giveaways! I would be thrilled with either book! Though if I really had to pick, I would lean toward the "knitting a kiss" book. It sounds darling!

  196. Hey, I'm Erica (named after Susan Lucci's character - Erica Kane - on the soap All My Children). I'm a lover of books and of knitting. My sisters Deb and Kat gifted me with knitting lessons back in 2008. Since then, I've knit a scarf that's kept a friend warm on her travels from Florida to Minnesota and Alaska. I'm always looking for knitting inspiration which is sometimes hard for a Florida gal such as myself.I'm currently working on a Noah's Ark baby afghan (Michele Wilcox design) for my nephew who is due on March 28, 2010 (my 30-something bday!). I'm also working on some Christmas gifts for my sweet daughters and a hat for my DH. Happy, Happy Thanksgiving!

  197. Yow, I am in love with both books! I have one of Kristen's other books, and it's one of my favorite sources of inspiration!

I feel for you in this traumatic camera moment. I had to run without my ipod for a few weeks, and it was like someone had stuffed my shoes with kryptonite - it's hard to get by without the stuff we use everyday!
