Oh, hey you! Glad you stopped by!
Just wanted to show you my newly painted vanity. Yes, I actually do sit here and put on my make up. It really is rather fun!
This piece of furniture was left in a house that my sisters lived in in college. Somehow I inherited it, and it sat in our basement for years. I finally realized that I had the perfect spot in our bedroom for it. That was three years ago! It took me three years to decide on a color! Can you believe that! The lamp on the left was given to me by the previous owners of our home. My husband doesn't like it, however, it is one of my favorites! I think it is pretty funky. I do wish it was something rather than gold, and started to paint it also. I quickly realized that was a terrible idea and tried to remove the paint, but could not get it all off. It will probably stay like this until I can figure out how to remove it.

The paint color is Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware. I LOVE this color. It truly changes from blue to grey to green, depending on the light. And again, the pulls are from Anthropologie. I am in love with them.
Two coats of paint and then a light sanding on the corners.
I also recovered the seat with a fabric which I found at JoAnn 's. They are having a huge sale on all of their decorating fabric. Pretty good deal. Guess who else loves this spot? You guessed it... Libby!
If you want to see a before picture I have one over on flickr. I really can't believe that I am posting it, but I always love to see before and after shots.

This is my first visit to your blog, and I have to say I am bowled over! You have so many talents. (Love the idea of cookie of the week, I may have to use that). But your rejuvenated vanity is absolutely fabulous. I need to do something about my dining room table and chairs, and you've inspired me and given me hope! LOL

    Hi Leslie :-)

I just picked up the coolest old desk and want to paint it. I remembered your post from way back and was wondering if you had to sand your desk/vanity first or if you primed it? I have never "refinished" furniture before. Any tips? The desk I have has been painted a few times already.

    Hope your summer is well.

    Best,
    Abi
