ideas
Monday, November 16, 2009With the holidays fast approaching, my mind races on what to all those people that deserve something in my life. I can't seem to leave the house without taking along one of these projects. I just wanted to share them again in case you needed some ideas on what to make. Seriously great stash busters. Just one skein is all they take. And a no brainer, so they are great to do while you wait just about anywhere.
For some reason I have made a lot more pairs of toast, then toasty's. For me, I love that toast doesn't have the thumb.
And, those mitts. My favorite yarn to use for all three of these patterns is Classic Elite's Portland Tweed. Not only do I love the tweedy appearance, but the wear of this yarn is FANTASTIC!
This was our "cookie of the week" two weeks ago, last week, and my kids asked for them again this week. It has a little "cake like" consistency. You would think they would all be tired of cake!

Great gloves, and we love pumpkin cookies around here. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOkay. I've been a lurker for some time and had to comment on today's post. I am all into the fingerless mittens too. They are my go to gifts this year along with a thorpe and a few others. But, my excitement from your post is over the cinnamon chips. We used to get some years ago and my boys loved adding them to pancakes. Then, we could not find them. I thought they weren't made anymore. I am so glad to see someone has them and will investigate getting them in my area. Thank you! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteyes! toast and toasty, those are my gifts this year! i must try some of that yarn, it looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look fantastic! Thanks for all the fun gift ideas :)

ReplyDeleteWhen I first joined Ravelry, one of the first projects I found and wanted to knit immediately was Toasty. I took the pattern with me to my Thursday night knitting group. Since then, every single lady in my group has made multiples of Toast, Toasty and Those Mitts. Many thanks to you, Leslie, for such great patterns. They are the perfect gifts, and really are the perfect size project to wittle down odds and ends left in my stash!

ReplyDeleteYes I to am making the toasty and those mitts for gifts and your pumpkin cookies have been one of our favs since last year when you made them. I add choc chips and my daughters volleyball team was requesting them on a weekly basis. Thanks for all the great inspiration it's always so fun to see what you are up to.
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin cookies (as well as toast, toasty, and those mitts--you know how I feel about those!). The other day when I made them they totally flopped. I thought I lost my kitchen mojo only to learn the next day the oven died--it wasn't me! When my new oven arrives I'll try out your recipe and start fresh!
ReplyDeleteToast = Classic! Great gift idea :)
ReplyDeleteI love, love the toast(s) - that tweed is fabulous! Christmas is really fast approaching, yikes!

ReplyDeleteI've never bought cinnamon chips, but ever since the scrumptious scone my husband brought home from Dunn Bros last week, they are on the grocery list!
ReplyDeleteThat Classic Elite yarn looks awesome! I'll check that out! Happy knitting!
ReplyDeleteI need all the ideas I can get. And any dessert with pumpkin grabs me! I think we need these cookies around here.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how much kids seem to love pumpkin cookies, isn't it? I have a recipe that has cream cheese frosting... they go in a flash. Even by those who claim they don't like pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteI really REALLY need to try out those Toast.
ReplyDeleteRight up my alley for sure.
Those cookies look so yummy too.
Those are the best gifts to knit!! :)
ReplyDeleteI need to crank out some pairs of Toast as well, I think you invented the perfect speedy knit gift Leslie.
ReplyDeletetoast, toasty and those mitts all make great gifts...I just recently pulled out my Christmas list to start thinking through my gift ideas...thanks for this reminder! Have a great week! (enjoy those yummy cookies)
ReplyDeletelibby has made herself a chunky beanie and now is starting one for a friend. the sister may get one as a gift as well!
ReplyDeleteI wore my Toasts to DEATH! They are finally starting to look worn. My beautiful cream-colored, cashmere ones are still looking great. I love the thumblessness of them as well. Cinnamon chips! Never heard of them. Must get!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy 3 favorite gift ideas! and I'm stopping after work to pickup the cinn. chips!
ReplyDeleteI'm making those mitts for my husband for Christmas. And I love the toast I made for myself last year.
ReplyDeleteWe're seriously into pumpkin around here...I'll have to try those cookies!
I am not sure why I have been pain-stakingly trying to come up with quick and easy things to make for people for the holidays...obviously toasts and toasties are the answer... I have always loved this pattern...perhaps there will be some ad nauseum knitting of toast(ies) in my home soon?!
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin cookies, but I am still reeling from the giant chocolate cookie I made on Saturday. An entire pizza pan's worth. It's a good thing we had friends over or I would be rolling to the train each morning.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool that your kids are so into them! They're gorgeous. I love grey.
ReplyDeleteHappy autumn, girl!
Great idea to use pumpkin. i've ended up making soup again, what a bore!
ReplyDeleteToast and Toasty are FABULOUS gifts! I like the thumbless-ness of Toast as well...it's like having long, snuggly sleeves that you can easily yank back when your hands warm up. Thank you again for making those patterns available!
ReplyDeleteI made some cakey pumpkin cookies last week...YUM. I brought most of them into the office because it was too dangerous having them around the house and they were devoured in no time. Now I'm craving them again!
i could have toast and toasty with my pumpkin cookies! All look great!
ReplyDeleteJust the knitting inspiration I needed. I made the toast and toasty patterns earlier this year and LOVED them both. I personally really love the thumb! I've also made a few pairs for my little girls and their friends. Thank you again for sharing those patterns.
ReplyDeleteVery cute mitts, and those cookies look delicious!! I've got to try out that recipe. :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI just tried the cookies and they didn't turn out cakey at all - Is it really 1 cup of butter? That seems like a lot - mine spread out all over the pan and were pretty mushy :(
ReplyDeleteThey do sound delicious though...I hope to try them again, maybe with less butter?!
those cookies look great, we will be making those for sure.
ReplyDeletethanks for the great ideas. i've made "toasty" for me and my girls , we love them and so does everyone else!
got to get knitting!
Thanks for the recipe! This weekend I happened to both pick up some cinnamon chips from the store on a whim and preserve some pumpkin butter. Yesterday I realized I had all the ingredients on hand for the pumpkin cookies. I made them and they were a great big hit!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies look soo yummy! I miss my kids being little. :(

ReplyDeleteThey do look good but so do all of your cookies you make!
ReplyDeleteYour mittens always look so elegant and even more so with this yarn. I think I would want the one's with the thumb. Very nice!
ummm yumo!
